Is Bikram for me?

Bikram Yoga is for anyone who can say Yes to any of these conditions, which are common in the present era:

    * stressed out

    * carrying an injury that doesn't seem to heal

    * irregular sleep

    * back pain

Yoga brings vitality, energy, and relaxation to a person's daily life. Practicing yoga regularly can improve the immune system, and reduce the symptoms of many chronic diseases such as arthritis. It increases blood circulation, and improves strength and flexibility, which promotes sustained health. Yoga helps let a sense of well being spread into your life.

To prepare for your first class:

  • Hydrate. Nutritionists tell us that we need 64-80 ounces of water a day to help the body function properly. To prepare for Bikram Yoga class, drink twice that amount.
  • Don't eat before class. Eat dinner the night before a morning class, and have lunch before an afternoon class so you aren't famished, but don't eat 3 hours before a class. In addition, avoid starting a new diet or undertaking a rigid austerity (fasting, cleansing) at the same time you begin Bikram Yoga. Give yourself adequate sustenance.
  • Wear something light. Be prepared to sweat.
  • Bring a mat, water and a towel.

We provide a mat and towels during your introductory special period. We also sell water.

Once you go into the yoga room, please remember:

  • no talking
  • no cell phones or pagers (ex. doctors)
  • no gum, perfume, cologne, or excess jewelry or watches. Leave everything outside the room.

After class:

  • Take some time to rest in the room.
  • Get up calmly and remain quiet as you leave the room. Close the door softly.
  • Drink water. Eat a nutritious meal. Read a book. Sleep well.
  • Plan to come back the next day or two, and continue learning this great path to physical health and mental balance.
